Best street sports moments 2022

Dime Glory Challenge

When they first announced the return of the dime challenge, everyone was super hyped about it as for many people it’s the best skate contest around. It also had been missed as it was 3 years since the last dime event.

The only thing that had slightly changed from the Dime event this year was that it was a ticketed event rather than totally free and open to the public. According to the production team, it was a decision they made after having to turn people away in previous years who travelled from across the world and were unable to get in due to capacity.

This year was a mental two days skating with two different events and skaters flying over from all over the world.

Tfunk and Tyson

4/20 was celebrated in style in 2022 with the release of a brand-new Baker video that starred Tyson Peterson & Tristan Funkhouser and, as you no doubt remember, the lads absolutely Killed it.

From Tyson's opening downhill line to T-Funk's impossible China Banks Thrasher cover ender.  It really was of no surprise to hear Tristan as a serious SOTY contender as 2022 wrapped up.

Skater of the year (SOTY)

The SOTY is always someone who stands above his peers, a seasoned veteran, an up-and-coming talent, or a fearless newbie.

The award recognizes the skater who displayed extraordinary skills, commitment, dedication, spirit, and determination to the sport, whether by achieving competitive success or pushing the boundaries of skateboarding.

Winning the Skater of the Year trophy could be a life-changing moment in a skater's career, resulting in more media coverage, more sponsors and, ultimately, more income.

Thrasher's first Skater of the Year was of course Tony Hawk.

This year the title goes to Tyshawn Jones

Ohlay Video Of the Year

This year's Ohlay video of the year goes to The Next Generation.

The video includes riders such as Hunter Frost, Cody Ribley, Nate Pena, Grant Lewis and Colin Mclean

In the video these riders are sent on a two week road trip in hopes to inspire the younger generation. Ohlay says “ With so few park oriented riders currently putting an emphasis on video parts, this video is a breath of fresh air.  We are over the moon with their level of commitment and dedication to this project, and fully believe that this is only a taste of what is to come.”
