Tennis Inspired Garden Games for Summer
We all have those yearly events which we look forward to. Christmas. Halloween. Easter…Wimbledon. Yes, it’s that time of year where we tune into the world renown tennis event, following the highs and lows of the tournament, no matter who we support. Its easy to get swept up in the fever of it all as well, raiding the supermarket shelves for strawberries and cream while making sure the Pimm’s and lemonade pitcher is still nice and cold. Obviously, this is all depending on the good ol’ reliable British weather, but as usual we won’t let a few clouds dampen our spirits.
That’s why we’ve still got loads of awesome garden games stocked, taking inspiration for Wimbledon. Who knew you could have so much fun smacking a ball around with friends? But some of these take a twist and even if you’re no Rojer Federer, you’ll still love these toys (see what we did there?)
Funslinger
We’re kicking off with a classic and you might have seen us talk about this throwing toy last Summer. Well, it’s back this year, because the Funslinger is just that good. Grab a net with a buddy and load the shuttle into the end of the racket to hurl it for some serious air. This is a regular game we play out on the green behind the SkateHut HQ and with a bit of practice, you’ll be able to master the perfect arch. Pickleball
It’s the sport that’s exploded in America and has now made its way over the pond to our parks and gardens. Pickleball is a fast paced, addictive racket sport which takes a lot of inspiration from tennis. You’ve got everything which makes tennis great, but in a condensed space, requiring faster reaction speed and quick thinking. Simply set up the net in your garden or park, grab a paddle and start playing pickleball! Once you start…you’ll be addicted!
Beach Racket Set
I’m sure loads of you have got your holidays booked for the Summer and most likely you’ll be sunning yourselves on a beach somewhere…I’m not jealous at all. Anyway, what’s a trip to the beach if you don’t have some awesome beach games to play? There’s only so many sand castles you can build before it starts to get stale. It’s always nice to distract the kids for an hour or so while the parents can catch up on the book they brought from the airport.
