Go Skateboarding Day and it’s History
Go Skateboarding Day is a yearly event that goes down on June 21st, all about celebrating skateboarding and getting skaters everywhere to hit the streets. It was started by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) back in 2004 to hype up the sport and bring the skate community together.
On this day, skaters of all ages and skill levels come out to join group skate sessions, enter contests, watch demos, and take part in events thrown by local skate shops, parks, and communities. The main idea is to unite skaters worldwide, show off the awesome side of skateboarding, and get more people to grab a board and give it a try.
Over the years, Go Skateboarding Day has blown up, with skaters and organizations from all over the world joining in, making it one of the biggest days in skateboarding.
Go Skateboarding Day started back in 2004, thanks to the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC). They wanted a day to celebrate everything awesome about skateboarding and to get more people out there skating. June 21st was picked as the official day, and it’s been a hit ever since.
The idea was simple: create a day where skaters everywhere would drop what they're doing and just skate. It quickly caught on, with events popping up all over the world. Skate shops, parks, and communities started organizing group sessions, contests, and all kinds of fun activities to mark the occasion.
What started as a small initiative has turned into a global celebration. Every year, more and more skaters and organizations get involved, making Go Skateboarding Day one of the biggest and most anticipated days in the skateboarding calendar. It's all about having fun, spreading the love for skateboarding, and bringing skaters together from all corners of the world.
