I have been researching skateboards for kids for over 3 weeks. Not a skateboarder myself I was confused with all the terminology, numbers, sizes and materials. I have contacted skatehut through facebook and they replied very promptly what kind of skateboard would be suitable for my 6 year old. I was advised the buy a ready made one, one of the Enuff Pow bundles. After further research I realised the bundle would be suitable but not what I was after. I wanted to get him a decent skateboard which would last for a few years, durable, light enough to manage and not set him up for a failure. I was advised over the phone what to get for his age and size. We discovered non of the ready made boards had everything we needed, so we decided to purchase everything separately. We went for 7.5 deck, canadian maple (we have chosen Revive deck, Dipdye 2018) with aluminium trucks (which are light enough for 7 year old), fast bearings (the higher Abec rating the faster they are), colorful screws for him to recognise which end is 'nose' and which end is 'tail' and Force 2018 wheels 53mm ('Pebbles Suck'). The Revive deck came with free tape. I also purchased the 'T' tool for loosening up the trucks once he gets his balance. I paid around 4.50 for the 'service' of putting it all together. I was amazed how fast the service was. The board was with us next day. He absolutely loves it. We go to skatepark and lot of guys compliment him on his great board. When I see other children on the rented decks struggling to push on the worn out bearings I am glad I put a decent board together which will grow older with him. Once he's older and start grinding he can swap the aluminium trucks for iron ones but that's in years to come. We also purchased the 'Bullet' Matt black helmet which is fantastic and 'Harsch' elbow/knee pads and wrist protectors. The wrist protectors are fine but the elbow and knee pads are size S and they are running small on him, very tight. Strange as he's quite skinny. Wish I went for Junior sizing. The service overall from Skatehut was amazing and thanks to them my little one absolutely loves his skateboard which is just a right fit for him. I must add, since he got his skateboard he has not touched his Nintendo Switch, hes either in the park, in the garden or on my new wooden floor in the living room practicing his tricks!
