  • How do I care for my stunt scooter wheels and bearings?

    The first step to taking care of your stunt scooter wheels and scooter bearings is to ensure regular cleaning. Over time, dirt, dust and debris can build up inside the bearings and this can reduce performance heavily. More importantly, however, this build-up of debris can reduce your safety, so it is essential that you keep your bearings and wheels clean and maintained.

    First of all, you will want to remove the wheels from your scooter and then use a skate tool or wrench to unscrew the axle nuts to set the wheels free, before removing the bearings from the wheels. You will then want to use a specialised bearing cleaner or a solvent such as alcohol to clean the bearings. Soak the bearings into the solution and be sure to swish and move them around to ensure all debris, dirt and dust is totally removed. Let them air for a good while before adding some bearing lubricant to each bearing, then proceed to put the scooter back together.

    Regularly, make sure you check your wheels for any sort of damage; cracks, chunks missing, that sort of thing. If you start to see these signs of damage, you will want to consider purchasing some new wheels as soon as possible, again, for your own safety and the performance of your scooter too.
