WE ARE BLOOD, SKATEBOARDING’S FIRST-EVER ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION MOVIE, DIRECTED BY AWARD-WINNING SKATEBOARD DOCUMENTARY LEGEND TY EVANS AND PRODUCED BY BRAIN FARM, WITH SUPPORT FROM MOUNTAIN DEW’S GREEN LABEL FILMS, IS ABOUT TO CHANGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR WHAT A SKATEBOARD MOVIE CAN LOOK AND FEEL LIKE.
Skateboarding is a global phenomenon, a passion spreading through the streets like a groundswell revolution, but until now no one has been able to tell a story about it in cinematic form that made viewers fully understand why.
Since 2008, our commitment to pushing the level of progression on the technical side of action-sports filmmaking has changed the cinematographic landscape of the genre — first with the introduction of the Hollywood-production level Cineflex cameras used to make the landmark snowboard movie, That’s It, That’s All, followed by the incorporation of high-definition, slow-motion action footage captured by RED and Phantom camera systems into 2011’s The Art of Flight.
With footage shot entirely on 4K cameras, We Are Blood is raising the cinematography bar again. We aim to blow the doors of possibility wide open in skateboard documentary filmmaking and make a giant leap in technical evolution in a genre that is just beginning to experiment with shooting with RED cameras in its higher-level productions.
“We have branched out far beyond action sports these days,” explains founder Curt Morgan. “We’ve moved into mainstream documentary features, nature filmmaking with National Geographic, producing Virtual Reality experiences for Oculus. We make media for Fortune 100 brands on all platforms, and know how make content that young people want to watch and share. But we have such a passion for skateboarding. We really wanted to take everything we’ve learned so far and apply it to this world that’s never really had this kind of access to next-level image-capturing technology before.
Ty Evans has assembled some of the hardest working skateboarders in the world for this feature, including Paul Rodriguez, Jordan Maxham, Chris Colbourn, Tiago Lemos, Mikey Taylor, Chase Webb, Clint Walker, Clive Dixon, Sean Malto and many more.
“I want to do something meaningful, and this is a one-of-a-kind film,” says Rodriguez, who provides a narrative focal point for the film. “You get to grow with all these different creative characters. All these guys represent the full dedication it takes to make whatever your dream is come true.”
“Under the direction of one of the best filmmakers in skateboarding, featuring some of the best street skateboarders in the world, with full support of a company like Mountain Dew, what we have been able to accomplish has been mind-blowing,” adds Morgan.
Shot in the streets of China, Barcelona, California and Dubai — a one-of-a-kind trip to a place security-dodging skateboarders are normally not given access to skate, thanks to partner XDubai —We Are Blood combines the most progressive cinematographic technology available with narrative storytelling finesse to spin a love sonnet about skateboarding that authentically expresses the beauty and passion inherent in the culture in a way that the whole world will finally be able to understand.

This is the first trailer. Get ready for the full movie, releasing August 2015.
