We’re super excited to announce that this summer we will be taking part in something bear-illiant! As part of The Big Sleuth campaign we’ll be sponsoring our very own bear (sleuth is the collective noun for bears). Along with other fellow sponsored bears, ours will be taking to the streets of Birmingham – or should we call it Bear-mingham now? - to help raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Our bear, which is currently getting a make-over by a local artist, has been inspired by the strength and empowerment of the roller derby community. That being said, it would only be right that our bear be decorated head to toe in bold roller derby uniform, as well as skates, knee pads and most importantly the head gear – make sure you keep an eye out for it if you’re planning on visiting the city this summer!

Of course with roller derby being a predominantly female sport, our bear needs a sassy female roller derby name to match her fearless personality. So this is where you come in – we want you to come up with a name for our beautiful bear (think bear puns and witty adjectives).
You’ve got until midday on Monday 15 th May to enter our naming competition, and after that we’ll be choosing our favourite name from all of the entries, plus 5 runners up. The winner will win £100 to spend in store or online, and each runner up will win a SkateHut goodie bag!
As this campaign is in partnership with the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, we only ask that you keep your name suggestions clean! No naughty words please.
