A Riser or Shock pads is a flat pad located between the skateboard truck and the skate deck. Risers lift the wheels further away from the deck to prevent 'Wheel bite' when performing tight turns.
Shock pads help absorb some of the impact when landing tricks, this will reduce stress along the truck bolt line and hopefully prolong the life of your deck.
