Skateboarding-Does Size Matter?
Attention aspiring skaters! The size of your skateboard is part of the whole package and is just as important as length, traction and design but not more so. The size you choose is a personal preference but can be affected by your size and weight. A large deck tends to be a good option if you want increased stability. A smaller deck is lighter allowing riders to perform tricks with ease.
The correct size of a skateboard is closely related to the skating style of the individual:
· Micro-Perfect for riders up to the age of 5.
· Mini-Ideal for little riders aged 5 upwards
· 7.5-This is a full size board, great for teens that prefer a slightly larger, heavier board and is good choice for ages 13 and up.
· 7.75-This is one of the most popular sizes and is good for those who are just starting out or those with a little experience.
· 8.0-Great stability for tall riders with a shoe size of 9 upwards.
This size guide is meant to give riders an idea of the correct skateboard size for their age, height and experience. The length of the board can be chosen in relation to the way in which you stand naturally on the deck.
